The shark activity map shows alerts, reported shark sightings, shark attractants and tagged shark detections from the Shark Monitoring Network, as well as additional beach safety features, to help you make an informed decision about your water use.

Select a pin to display information about the feature or the date, time and location of the reported sighting or tagged shark detection.

Data is updated regularly. New information received during a browsing session such as alerts, tagged shark detections and reported sightings will appear in a red alert bar at the top of the page.

CHECK FUNCTIONALITY OF THIS MAP: Choose 'track physical location' when prompted to zoom to information about the beach closest to your current location.

Not all sharks are tagged, and not all sightings are reported. Follow local beach safety advice and signage. Stay informed. Stay SharkSmart.

Filters

Details of alerts, reported shark sightings, tagged shark detections and shark attractants are viewed in the map's default setting.

Additional beach safety features such as shark monitoring receivers, beach enclosures, warning towers, Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA) patrolled beaches and Beach Emergency Numbers (BEN) signs can be selected using the filters.

Activity is shown for the last 7 days by default. Use the filters to adjust the timeframe for the last 7 or 30 days.
